Barrier Wetlands Species Overview
Barrier Wetlands are created in the sheltered areas behind the many barrier islands in Louisiana. These spits of moving sand create their own ecosystems around them. Redfish, trout and flounder can be found feeding around these areas and the associated shallow areas are home and nursery to many types of fish and crustaceans.
