LA Creel is a data-gathering tool that allows our biologists to manage our fisheries at localized levels across the state. The success of LA Creel will not only allow LDWF to better manage our fisheries, but will ultimately maximize the amount of fishing opportunities for our anglers. Louisiana Saltwater Series
We are always looking for sponsors to help provide prizes, cash, beverages or food to enhance our tournaments and help increase participation. This is a unique approach for a state fishery agency to advocate and work hand-in-hand with the fishing public. LDWF partners with fishermen to tap their knowledge and use their presence on the waters to aid in fisheries management. This partnership between fishery managers and recreational anglers led to the development of the Louisiana Saltwater Series Tournaments.
The LA Saltwater Series is a collaboration between the LDWF and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation. They sponsor many tournaments with varying formats that all share a common goal to enhance the resource while providing competitive opportunities to anglers. The tournaments are mostly catch, tag and release tournaments and hope to foster a tag and release culture in today’s fishermen. Family and Youth Fishing Programs
The Fisheries Extension Outreach Program encourages people to be responsible, licensed anglers by organizing community fishing events and developing opportunities for anglers to work as citizen scientists and participate in the conservation of Louisiana’s aquatic resources.
The Program promotes awareness of the Sport Fish Restoration Act, which uses angler support to help ensure the future of recreational fishing in Louisiana for generations to come. The fisheries extension offers many outreach programs to the public.
