LDWF offers fishing workshops for the general public, including youth and ladies-specific events. Whether you are a parent trying to learn tips to teach your child the basics of fishing or a woman who wants to gain the confidence to go fishing on your own, we have a workshop for you.
At each workshop, participants will learn how to rig their own rod and reel, fishing tactics, how to properly tag a fish, cleaning methods, identification of native species and the science involved in managing Louisiana’s fisheries.
Women’s Fish Tagging Workshops
Our Women’s Fish Tagging Workshops are open to all women who have an interest in fishing and conservation but have yet to learn the skills and techniques needed to begin fishing on their own. Through a partnership with Cabela’s and CCA Louisiana, LDWF holds one-day workshops during the spring and summer.
Those who participate in the workshops are eligible to enter a drawing for a weekend ladies fishing trip to the LDWF Fisheries Research Lab on Grand Isle accompanied by LDWF staff.
If name is drawn for the “Coastal Fishing Trip,” dates are listed below:
June 26-28: Grand Isle, La. (drawing from April 28 workshop)
July 17-19: Grand Isle, La. (drawing from June 8 workshop)
Check back frequently for new workshop dates!
